Ceramics are one of the most versatile finishing products there is; we know it can be a daunting task. That is why we are here to help.
With home improvement, the ultimate success will be determined by the amount of planning and organisation that goes into the initial stages. Our dedicated team will ensure that you are informed and guided through all of the relevant stages of your tiling venture.
Samples
Where possible we would always advise you to purchase a sample tile to take home to appraise in your own home environment and the exact lighting conditions. This affords you the opportunity to see exactly what your chosen range, colour, or pattern will look like in situ and give you confidence before making a final decision to go ahead with your purchase.
Some ranges with very varied colouration and patterning may require multiple samples to appreciate the inherent design qualities of the product.
Adhesives, Grout & Tiling Essentials
Once you have made your tile selection, you now have to consider purchasing the correct adhesive, grout and tile trim to complete the installation. We stock a wide range of premium adhesives, grouts and tiling essentials to cover all installation types. Our technically trained staff are on hand to recommend the correct installation products that are both fit for purpose and correct for the backing substrates and backgrounds in your installation.
Installation
We would always recommend seeking professional advice regarding the installation stage of your project. A local tile specialist should be able to help you with all the finer details of your installation with regards to design and layout.
Before fixing it is very important to lay the tiles out to ensure that the inherent shading and patterning is evenly distributed and right for your project.
Wastage
We always recommend adding between 5 and 10% extra tiles to allow for wastage and accidental damage during the fixing operation. This wastage factor could vary depending upon the size of the tile, complexity of the room and accuracy of the cutting around fixtures and fittings.
Shading & Size
Due to the manufacturing processes, all tile products can vary in shade and size (calibre). This is a characteristic of the product and therefore must be considered when ordering your tiles. It is advisable to order sufficient quantity for your requirements from one batch and retain for your records carton packaging relating to the size and calibre.
